Since then, she has continued her research activities with other volunteer faculty members. Activities vary, including providing lectures and workshops, and they produce work based on the same themes and exhibit their work together. We are presenting records of the particulars as well as the fruits of my overseas activities, which include communication education through media, and joint production of media works with local students. Among my series of activities, the beyond kawaii Exhibition, held in October 2010 in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Portugal as part of the 150th Anniversary of the Treaty of Peace, Amity and Commerce, was a large-scale event. At this exhibition, the work of undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni from the Faculty of Arts at Tokyo Polytechnic University were exhibited and screened. A total of 18 graduate students, undergraduate students, and alumni visited the locale and gave presentations on their own work, created collaborative work with local students, participated in a live painting event and more at four locations including a university in Portugal. Today, joint research continues, such as with the University of Coimbra, Portugal. This year, which marks the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Portugal, We’d like to look back on the activities of these past 10 years, while also considering the possibilities of the future.
