76 Department of Design FUKUSHIMA Osamu In preparation for the Paralympic Games, the national government is also supporting art activities for people with disabilities, such as with the establishment of support centers for artistic and cultural activities for people with disabilities. These centers are intended to be bases for carrying out the Act on Promotion of Cultural & Artistic Activities for Persons with Disabilities, as well as for support from each prefecture. However, social participation and income support that utilizes art made by those with disabilities have not made much progress. FUKUFUKU+ Co., Ltd., started by Mr. Isomura, Mr. Takahashi, and Mr. Fukushima, is Japan’s first CSV-style company that creates social participation and income support by commercializing the creative activities of people with disabilities. We are taking on the challenge of creating new value in art and supporting artists’ income, by producing a variety of uses for art such as rental business and commercialization using art. As expressed in a poster, FUKUFUKU+ is a signpost for the artistic activities of people with disabilities who are lost, and searching for an exit. FUKUFUKU+ Co., Ltd. After working at the Katsumi Asaba Design Studio and ADK, established Fukushima Design Ltd. in 1999. He explores and puts into practice the potential of social contribution in design, through work such as the UNICEF Prayer Tree and Handkerchiefs for Tohoku Children . In 2018, in order to realize work style reform for artists with disabilities and welfare facilities, he launched FUKUFUKU+ Co., Ltd., a CSV-style company, with two of his colleagues. He has won more than 30 awards both domestically and internationally, including the International Poster Triennial Toyama Grand Prix and the Cannes International Advertising Festival (now the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity) Gold prize.
