64 Cl imax Department of Photography TANAKA Hi toshi After graduating university in 1979, began production work primarily in Kansai. Completed degree in media art from graduate school in 1998 after studying photography in Japan and New York. Currently engaged mainly in production and research. (photobook), The Reality of Contemporary Photography (co-author), Photography: Technique & Expression (responsible editor/co-author) A state of equi l ibrium reached by biocoenosis at the f inal stage of ecological development is i ts cl imax. Through the process of succession, l i fe reaches this state, adapted to the local environment, and has a stable construct ion for a long period of t ime. This f inal stage of development can also be cal led the ‘stable period’ .
